I started to change the way we are eating. Buying less processed frozen food and trying to make fresh healthy alternatives. These Pizza Rolls are time consuming but very easy to make and are yummy! I make enough to freeze so the kids can enjoy them when ever they want! I like to deep fry them, cool them off and freeze them. They freeze well!
INGREDIENTS
4 or 6 pkg Egg roll wrappers (Zehr's sells them)
can buy 2 or 3 if you just want to do a small batchPepperoni ( I buy Ziggy's from Zehr's in a larger bad seems to be the best value)
Pizza or mozzarella Cheese grated (large 450g)
Pizza Sauce ( I buy Presidents choice in a squeezable bottle)
(Also add veggies, bacon and other meats, I just did simple ones)
small bowl of water
fork
deep fryer
Directions
Make sure your deep fryer is on and is ready to go
1)Lay a bunch of egg roll wrappers on a flat surface
2)add pizza sauce, as much or little as you like
3)add your meats, then veggies, and then cheese last, as much as you want of each
4)fold over the wrappers and rub the seam with water on your finger, make sure its sealed
5)wet the fork and press down on the ends, make sure they are sealed together
6)place as many egg rolls as you can in the deep fryer
7) once they are golden brown on one side, flip them to brown the other side because they float.
8)once golden brown on both sides take out and place into a strainer or on some paper towels, then place on cooling racks.
9)they are ready to eat, you can eat them just like that or dip into some pizza sauce
10)after they are cooled off you can freeze them in freezer bags. When you want to warm them up when they are frozen I heat he oven to 400F and cook them till they are warmed through, they remain crispy this way.
Add pizza sauce
Add pepperoni
Add cheese
Folded over and seams joined with water
Press down ends with a wet fork
Finished pizza roll
They look delicious...are they something you can bake too? I don't have a deep fryer! Glad to see you back at it...missed ya!
ReplyDeleteHey there I am not sure if they will be good in the oven, maybe on 450F. I will have to give that a try and let you know how it goes. They might be good with a hight heat and maybe a light brush of olive oil on each side!
